Management Team

Clifford S. Mintz, Ph.D. is the founder of BioInsights, Inc. and serves as its Chairman and CEO. He holds a Ph.D. in Bacteriology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and is an expert in the fields of molecular biology, microbiology, and bioscience education. Dr. Mintz spent seven years as a faculty member in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology at the University of Miami School of Medicine, Miami, FL, where he conducted laboratory research and taught microbiology and molecular biology to undergraduates, graduate students, and medical students. After leaving academia, Dr. Mintz spent two years at Transcell Technologies, a biopharmaceutical company in Monmouth Junction, NJ where he was lead scientist and project manger of an antibacterial drug discovery program. From 1996 to 1998, Dr. Mintz was Chairman of Biology at Middlesex County College, (a two-year college located in Edison, NJ) where he helped to craft a bioscience technician training program. For the past two years, Dr. Mintz has been a bioscience education consultant to a variety of colleges, education organizations, and state government agencies.

 

E. Quinton Gordon, M.A., S.M. is the Vice President, Business Development of BioInsights, Inc.. With more than 25 years of management consulting and general management experience, Mr. Gordon has been instrumental in assisting corporations and clients in developing operational strategies, improving operational efficiency, and in initiating and coping with organizational change. His personal example in carrying out his general management and management consulting duties has enabled him to work with individuals across all socioeconomic levels and ethnic backgrounds and to manage relations with government, corporate, and community leaders. He was Vice President Pharmaceutical Operations EDS and Vice President Operations of the biopharmaceutical company Enzon, Inc. Mr. Gordon has a unique combination of federal government and diverse industry experience. He was a charter member of the federal government’s Senior Executive Service. At the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, Mr. Gordon served as Director, Office of Policy Development and Evaluation and as Director, Office of Housing Operations & Field Monitoring. His involvement in community and economic development affairs has led him to work extensively with individuals from diverse socio-economic backgrounds to improve employment, housing, and educational opportunities for young adults. Mr. Gordon earned a master’s degree in management science at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he was an Alfred P. Sloan Fellow. He also earned a master’s degree in sociology at The Catholic University of America and a bachelor’s degree in physics at Franklin and Marshall College.

 

Steven S. Kuwahara, Ph.D is the Chief Education Officer of BioInsights, Inc. Steve has worked with biologics for over 25 years, specializing in the areas of assay development, quality assurance, and quality control. Prior to joining BioInsights, Inc., Steve worked at BioPort Corp., the Hyland Division of Baxter Healthcare (now Baxter Biotech), Pyramid Laboratories, Alpha Therapeutics, SyStemics, BioReliance and Titan Pharmaceuticals. Over the past five years, Steve has developed a large amount of courseware and presented numerous talks on GMP and testing requirements for biopharmaceuticals. He has participated in training programs sponsored by the Parenteral Drug Association, Pharmaceutical training Institute, and IBC. He continues to teach an introductory GMP of Biopharmaceuticals course in the University of California at Santa Cruz extension program for Biotechnology.

Dr. Kuwahara holds degrees in biochemistry from Cornell University (B.S.) and from the University of Wisconsin-Madison (M.S. and Ph.D.). After post-doctoral studies at the University of Washington, he spent four years on the chemistry faculty of the California State University at Long Beach, and two years as an NIH Special Research Fellow with the Department of Organismic Biology of the University of California at Irvine Steve currently serves on the editorial boards of BioPharm, BioQuality and the Journal of GXP Compliance.
