A Day in the Life: Director of Sales and Marketing
The thing I love about being the sales and marketing director for a company like Analtech, Inc. is the fact that there is no such thing as an “average” day.
First, how did I get here?
I spent more than 12 years working in media, then another five years working in politics – I don’t have a science background.
But, when the management team at Analtech decided to bring me on board in 2007, I knew this would be an interesting way to stretch myself and see what we could accomplish together.
Marketing is going through a serious shift right now – gone are the days of simply purchasing billboards or full-page ads in trade publications and calling it a day.
One of the first projects I had the privilege of working on was our video, “The Adventures of Ana” – the word “fun” doesn’t even begin to describe that experience!
Since then, we’ve started a blog and engaged fully in various social media platforms – from LinkedIn to Twitter to BioCrowd
The key here is connecting with people and helping them solve problems, reach objectives, and gain new insights. The possibilities are truly limitless.
Some of the basic tools of the trade these days include:
- Blog
- Flip Video
- Mobile Device (Blackberry, iPhone, Droid, etc.)
- Social Media access (twitter, facebook, BioCrowd)
- Imagination
The job title may be “Sales and Marketing” – to me that means “educate, connect, and help”.
