Polymerase Chain Reaction
The polymerase chain reaction is a facile method for gene amplification that has revolutionized the fields of molecular biology, forensic sciences, and bioscience. PCR is used routinely in industrial and academic laboratories throughout the work. This course will provide a solid foundation and understanding of the basic principles of PCR.
Hand on laboratory exercises will be used to show students how to design PCR primers, prepare DNA samples for PCR and perform PCR reactions. Also, students will learn how to analyze PCR products using gel electrophoresis techniques.
Students or employees who may benefit from this course include: laboratory technicians, chemists, research scientists, medical technologist, medical professionals, forensic technicians and other who need to understand how to perform PCR.
